Employment Opportunities
Thank you for your interest in teaching at St. Mary's International School
St Mary's International School is a Catholic boys' school founded in 1954 by the Brothers of Christian Instruction which welcomes boys of all faiths and nationalities. St. Mary's offers boys a K-12 American/International curriculum preparing students for college and university entrance. The International Baccalaureate Programme (IB) is offered in grades 11 and 12. There is an extensive co-curricular program for sports and fine arts.
The school, which has extensive new buildings and sports facilities, is located on a large site in suburban Tokyo, close to Seisen International School for girls.
There are currently approximately 850 boys in St. Mary's between the ages of five and eighteen representing 50 nations. Our boys come from families who value education, and all graduates go on to higher education. Most students come from families who are multilingual.
St Mary's is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and by the Council of International Schools. The school underwent re-accreditation in April 2008 and received full terms of accreditation from both agencies.
Our main attributes are as follows:
- We are a Catholic international school where students from all nationalities and faiths are welcome and valued. Teachers are expected to support the academic, social, ethical, and spiritual development of the students.
- We are one of the rare international schools for boys only and as such our teachers focus on the special attributes and interests of boys in preparing their lessons. Boys are encouraged and supported to develop their talents academically, artistically, physically, socially and spiritually.
- Our staff tends to stay with us for many years. The average is 11 years.
- We offer a challenging American/International curriculum throughout the school which culminates in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
- In this context, we expect our teachers to be not only qualified for the job but also to be positive role models for the students.
