Uniform — RP Students:
- Hair
To be neat and trimmed.
- Shirt:
Navy-blue polo shirt. Long or short sleeves as weather permits.
- Sweatshirt:
St. Mary's navy sweatshirt for use at playtime.
These are available at the school office. - Trousers:
Medium-gray, slacks or shorts.
- Shoes:
Black or brown dress shoes for uniform wear.
One pair of slip-on tennis shoes for play.
One pair of slip-on gym shoes required for physical education in the gym.
These should be kept in a plastic bag at school. - Swimsuit:
For the swimming classes.
- Towels:
Shower facilities are available, but towels are not provided.
Special Recommendations
- Identification:
Please have your boy’s name on all of his belongings (jackets, trousers, ties, shorts, T-shirts, raincoat, umbrella, shoes, school bag, lunch box and pencil case, etc.).
- Snack:
A light snack should be brought to be eaten at milk time at approximately 10:30 a.m. The school cafeteria lunch is not available for R.P. students.
Uniform — Elementary School:
- Hair
To be neat and trimmed.
- Blazer:
Navy-blue, single-breasted; compulsory for students in Grades 1 through 5. (Special St. Mary's badge and buttons sold at the Main Office)
- Sweater:
Any sweater (preferably navy blue) is fine for elementary school students.
- Necktie:
Red. To be purchased at the Main Office.
- Shirt:
A plain, white shirt with either long or short sleeves
- Trousers:
Medium-gray slacks or shorts.
- Shoes:
Black or brown dress leather shoes. Suede shoes are acceptable.
No athletic shoes with the uniform. - Play Shoes:
Students change into play shoes for recess and back into uniform shoes when they leave school.
- Athletic Shoes:
One pair for gym use and a second pair for daily use in and out of the classroom (play shoes).
- Swimsuit:
On their swim day or for extra swimming after school.
- Towels:
Shower facilities are available, but towels are not provided.
- P.E. Uniform:
Any shorts above the knee, St. Mary's T-shirt sold at the Main Office.
Warm Weather Uniform (Gr. 1–5)
The warm weather uniform is worn from the beginning of the school year until the end of September, and from early May through the end of the year in June.
The warm weather uniform consists of a white dress shirt, grey trousers and dress shoes (i.e., no necktie or blazer). Elementary students may wear grey shorts with the warm weather uniform.

Because Grade 1 boys have a later lunch schedule (12:20 p.m.), a light snack should be brought to be eaten at milk time approximately 10:15 a.m.
If your son is taking the school lunch program for the whole school year, he will receive his lunch tickets for the week from his homeroom teacher. If your son takes the lunch occasionally, he should bring lunch money (¥700) and purchase a lunch ticket at the Main Office or the book shop.
