We travelled away to ASIJ to play them in our first regular season match-up, and came out victorious after 90 minutes. Our goal was to play together as a team, and give a better defensive showing than we did previously here, we did both and then some. From the first minute we played with a purpose, and each player carried out their role perfectly. After some early important saves Shuhei Oomiya left the field injured, which meant Nikhil Reddy (usually forward) came in to play as keeper. Nikhil made several important saves with the game tied at 0-0, and was a big reason to why we won. Midway through the first half Koji Kuo earned and converted a penalty to put us up 1-0. Soon after Abir Singh was quick to capitalise on a mistake in the ASIJ defence to put away our second of the day.
The second half saw ASIJ become more attacking as they looked for a way back into the game, but our defence as a team was immense, everyone working for each other. We were able to counter-attack well, and this is how we scored our third goal. We went from defence to attack in a matter of seconds and found Abir in the ASIJ half with space to attack the defence. Abir turned his defender and made a composed finish into the bottom corner to make it 3-0. From this point we defended well to see out the game, giving up a late consolation goal, but that didn't dampen the celebrations at the end as we beat our closest rivals 3-1, in a game we deserved to win. Everyone was ecstatic afterwards, as they should be, they all earned this victory!
