Sports Round-up

  • MS Soccer Titans at the ASIJ Jamboree

The boys had the chance to get a firsthand view of the opposition on Saturday at ASIJ.  Both CAJ and ASIJ look strong this year and the MS A team found it difficult to create chances.  Defensively we were indebted to Nishad Govindarajan who pulled off a string of great saves.  This Saturday we face YIS in our first league fixture.

  • JV Tennis Defeats YIS, 5-0

St. Mary’s hosted YIS for our first match of the season. We won all the official matches convincingly with the exception of the 3rd singles where Won Hyun Kang showed freshman rookie nerves, though up 7 games to 3, ended up winning 8-6 in a close finish. In contrast, Rintaro Fukusawa showed a lot of potential and justified the second singles selection.

  • MS Soccer A tops 6-Aside Tournament

This weekend we welcomed teams from YIS and Nishimachi to our field for a friendly 6-aside tournament.  The games were all played in a good spirit and there were some very exciting games.  The closest was that contested between the YIS A team and the St Mary's B team, the game eventually went to "golden goals" and ended with YIS victorious, despite the St Mary's boys playing some delightful football.
