Uniform — Elementary School:
Neat and trimmed.
Navy-blue, single-breasted. This is compulsory for students in grades 1 through 5 (St. Mary’s badge and buttons are sold at the school’s bookstore).
Any navy-blue sweater is fine for elementary school students.
A red school tie is to be purchased at the school’s bookstore.
A plain, white dress shirt with either long or short sleeves.
Medium-gray slacks or shorts.
Solid black athletic shoes
For swimming classes.
Shower facilities are available, but towels are not provided.
Any shorts above the knee, solid-color T-shirt for grades 1 and 2; Under Armour P.E. uniform for grades 3–5. (The Under Armour uniform is sold through the school’s bookstore.)
RP has no PE uniform.
Warm-Weather Uniform (grades 1–5)
The warm-weather uniform is worn from the beginning of the school year until the end of September.
The warm-weather uniform consists of neat tan (beige) shorts, solid navy-blue polo shirt, and sneakers. No sandals or open-toed shoes.
Please take a conservative approach to dress. If you are uncertain about a particular article of clothing, please fall back on the regular dress code provided above.
We recommend that you have your son’s first and last name on all his belongings, including jackets, trousers, ties, shorts, T-shirts, raincoat, umbrella, shoes, school bag, lunch box and pencil case.
St. Mary’s school uniforms can be purchased at the Takashimaya department store in Yokohama. Please find the order form here.
Uniforms can also be purchased at the many recycled uniform sales held at school throughout the year, including the day before school starts (Aug.), Back-to-school day (Sept.), the Christmas Craft Fair (Dec.), New Year's Tea (Jan.), Spring Luncheon (April), to name a few. Sales are advertised through school newsletters and the website, and through flyers around school
